ITU Telecom World 2019 takes place from 9 to 12 September in Budapest, Hungary, bringing together governments, corporates and tech SMEs to exhibit innovative solutions, network, share knowledge and debate with experts.

At ITU Telecom, we believe in the power of technology to change lives for the better. To really make a difference, connectivity has to be both meaningful and inclusive. By working together across sectors, companies and nations, we can make sure we make it happen.

SHARING KNOWLEDGE

"Innovating together: connectivity that matters"

----- how can we work together to bring about meaningful, inclusive and relevant connectivity that improves lives everywhere?

The central theme of the Forum at ITU Telecom World 2019 focuses on the need for collaboration across nations, industries and organizations to ensure that digital technologies transform human lives positively – for everyone, everywhere.

Forum Summit and Workshop

The 9th Spectrum and Technology Workshop of ITU Telecom World 2019 centering on the themes of different sessions

  • Regulatory policy environment and ecosystem building
  • New candidate bands for 5G, harmonization scale and allocation status
  • Innovative technologies and solutions emerging in 5G era
  • Regional and country successful cases

With high expectation to address the common concerns across the region, given countries and ecosystem

Is the 5G Regulatory environment in place in the Region or your country?

What need to do further about it to uphold the success of 5G rollout?

Where are we across the regions and the potential countries when it comes to allocation of the bands identified for IMT/5G and what challenges still remain?

How best to deliver the required 5G solutions and explore the competitiveness of 5G technologies, catering to the multi-dimension needs of broad bandwidth, large capacity, ultra-fast speed?

The year of 2019 was the 'Year of 5G" for a good number of countries in the World. It was the same to China in the real sense. On June 6 of 2019, China granted 5G commercial licenses to the four 4 carriers: China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom & China Communication Network. To seek for a better future of 5G, we believe there is a great expectation among the global players to have interconnection, discussion and debate about the 5G issues at the 9th Spectrum and Technology Workshop of the ITU Telecom World. Welcome to join in!

ITU is a networking hub and ideal place of coordination. It connects individuals, industry sectors and ideas with governments, regulators, academics and international organizations, eliminates difference and misunderstanding and achieves the common goals for the sustainable development. Taking full use of this great platform, jointly with TDIA, GTI, China Mobile, we have co-hosted a great number of spectrum and technology workshops in ITU Telecom World so far, and this year is the 8th edition in the light of that Technology and Spectrum are the two eternal topics for ITU.

——— ITU Secretary-general, Mr. Houlin Zhao

The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of 5G. At the end of 2017, it has taken the lead in clarifying the 3.5GHz as the basic frequency band of the 5G system to meet the user experience and massive device connectivity in large coverage and high mobility scenarios. At the same time, China is also actively researching and exploring the 25 GHz, 39 GHz and other millimeter wave band characteristics to support the subsequent development planning of 5G. In addition, in the early 2018, China has approved some of the 1.9/2.1 GHz frequency bands for 5G technology testing. Looking at the global, all the efforts for 5G development, spectrum planning and license issuance is still the upmost important.
