FCC launched a 5G test platform in New York and Utah on Sept. 20.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) created two new urban innovation zones in New York City and Salt Lake City, Utah, aimed at reducing regulatory procedures, making it easier for businesses to test new technologies outside the traditional campus or laboratory environment, providing innovators with a wider range of access to resources.
The New York City test area, located in Manhattan, allows fixed and mobile testing in a variety of frequency bands, such as 2.5GHz, 3.7GHz-4.2GHz (c-band), 5.9GHz, 28GHz, and 38.6GHz-40GHz. Fixed and mobile tests in Utah will be allowed in the middle and low frequency bands from 700MHz to 7.1GHz.
