On September 24, Malaysia announced that it would begin testing 5G networks nationwide in October, indicating that Malaysia is expected to be one of the first Asian countries to launch the technology. 

Malaysian telecoms companies have signed a preliminary cooperation agreement with Huawei and are expected to announce band allocation for 5G service providers in the second half of 2020.
