At the press conference of the 14th Five-Year Plan for the development of information and communication industry, Xie Cun, director of the Information and Communication Development Department of the MIIT of China, said that at present, China has built more than 1.15 million 5G base stations, accounting for more than 70% of the world. 5G subscribers reached 450 million, accounting for more than 80% of the world.

Regarding how will the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology further promote the expansion of new infrastructure construction? Xie Cun said that according to the decision-making arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council of China, MIIT has solidly promoted the construction of new infrastructure such as 5G. In 2021, it successively issued the "Double Gigabit" Network Collaborative Development Action Plan (2021-2023) and the "Sailing" Action Plan for 5G Application (2021-2023) and other documents to promote the high-quality development of 5G network construction and application. Local governments have given strong support to 5G from the aspects of site planning, resource opening, preferential electricity use, etc., the development environment has been continuously optimized, and 5G development has achieved world-leading remarkable achievements. 

At present, China has built more than 1.15 million 5G base stations, accounting for more than 70% of the world in total. It is the largest and most technologically advanced 5G stand-alone network in the world. All prefecture-level cities, more than 97% of county towns and 40% of towns and villages in China have achieved 5G network coverage. 5G end users reached 450 million, accounting for more than 80% of the world. With the rapid expansion of the industry, we organized the 4th Blooming Cup 5G Application Solicitation Competition and the on-site meeting of China's 5G industry application scale development. There were more than 10,000 cases of China's 5G application innovation, covering industries such as industry, medical care, education and transportation.
